It was a momentous day for Barton Inclusive Football Club (BIFC) as two of our teams secured places in the finals of the Lincolnshire Football Association County Disability Plate. The excitement is building as BIFC – Hull prepares to face Lincoln Invictus Inclusive Football Club in what promises to be a thrilling final showdown.
A huge congratulations also go to Lincoln Invictus, who impressively secured two spots in the finals. The competition was fierce, and every team put in outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
Pumas’ Brave Effort Falls Just Short
BIFC Pumas, led by manager Rob and coach Andrew, narrowly missed out on progression by just one point. Despite the near miss, the team showcased remarkable skill and determination. Coach Andrew expressed his pride, saying, “So proud of everyone,” while Manager Rob reflected on the team’s performance, noting, “They did really well. Switching off at two vital times cost them. It’s how it goes.”
Special recognition goes to Cameron, who was named Player of the Day for his outstanding performance and great attitude. Despite the disappointment, the Pumas enjoyed a brilliant day of football, representing BIFC with passion and dedication.

Rovers Dominate the Tournament
BIFC – Hull Rovers were in unstoppable form, winning all five of their matches and keeping a clean sheet throughout the day. Their head coach, Kristian, had set the tone for success before the tournament even began, telling the players, “We’re gonna get five wins today, just do what we’ve learnt in training.”
Game 1 saw Rovers edge past Barton Pumas 1-0, with a late goal from Callum securing the win. They then stormed to a 3-0 victory over Lincoln Utd, thanks to goals from Nathan (2) and Conner. A tightly contested match against Lincoln Invictus ended in another 1-0 win, with Jay Tommo netting the decisive goal.
With nine points already on the board, the team remained focused, with Nathan reminding his teammates to stay calm and concentrate. Their determination paid off with a 2-0 win over Bottesford Town, courtesy of goals from Jay Tommo and Nathan. In their final game, the Rovers rounded off a perfect day with another 2-0 triumph, with Conner and Nathan finding the back of the net.
Coach Mark named Alex as Player of the Day for his rock-solid defensive display, while special recognition was given to goalkeeper Jay, who didn’t concede a single goal all day. Coach Seb summed up the team’s achievements, stating, “I couldn’t be prouder of the players. Great job, Rovers!”

Broncos Secure Semi-Final Spot
BIFC – Hull Broncos also had a fantastic day on the pitch, finishing top of their group with 10 points after three wins, one draw, and just one loss. Their strong performances ensured they will return for next month’s semi-finals.
Goalkeeper Antony excelled in his new role as a sweeper-keeper, keeping two clean sheets and commanding his area with confidence. Leland was a standout in defence, making crucial interventions, while goal scorers Bailey and Kasper played a key role in both attack and midfield.
The goal of the day came from Brandon, who pulled off a stunning finish reminiscent of Paul Gascoigne’s famous strike in Euro ‘96, flicking the ball over a defender before volleying past the keeper. George was named Player of the Day for his relentless energy and commitment, despite carrying an injury. Coach Chris praised his performance, saying, “You’re my player of the day because, despite an injury from training, you still played like Cafu, up and down the pitch constantly, there was no stopping you.”

With two teams in the semi-finals, BIFC – Hull is making a powerful statement in inclusive football. Stay tuned for more updates as the teams gear up for their next big challenge!
