What a finish for our Barton Inclusive FC – Hull Comets at their final South Yorkshire Ability Counts League fixtures on Sunday!
After two thrilling games filled with determination and a lots of goals, this brilliant band of ballers lifted the Championship League trophy.
With almost the full team in attendance, including injured teammate George who came to cheer them on, the Comets celebrated a moment that will last a lifetime. The goal scorers of the day, Neil, Lucas, and Jamie put on a fantastic display, while Ollie, always grinning from ear to ear, once again showed his skill and love for the game.
Coach Chris named EJ as his Player of the Day, stating, “I chose EJ for his ‘can do’ positive attitude and exemplary conduct, a shining example of a BIFC team player.”
Captain Leon was ecstatic about the win, saying, “I can’t wait to bring the cup to training so we can celebrate again and drink fizzy water from it like the pros do!”
Coach Paul had a heartfelt message for the team: “Well done to all the players, not just for today’s games but for the whole season. You’ve all come together as a team in your first season. Even when injured, you’ve supported each other. You got the result you hoped for and are league champions. You all deserve a pat on the back for your teamwork and effort, and best of all, you had fun.”
Grandparent Kev summed up the emotions of the day beautifully: “What a great day for BIFC football teams all around. The Tigers excelled in all their matches, and the Comets, after narrowly losing their first game, fought back to win their second, cementing their place as Under-12 League Champions.
Having two children in the team, I couldn’t be prouder of this result and of the team as a whole. Without each other, the inclusivity of the team, and the support from BIFC, this wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you to everyone involved both behind and in front of the scenes. A great finality to a great season.”

Meanwhile, the Tigers also had a fantastic showing in their South Yorkshire Ability Counts League swansong, looking resplendent in their kit courtesy of P&L Whippies.
Kasper reports on their results:
Game 1️⃣ vs. Bradford – 5-2
Game 2️⃣ vs. Sheffield Black – 5-0
Game 3️⃣ vs. Hillsborough Hornets – 2-1
The Tigers’ goal scorers included Captain James (1), Jordan (3), Josh (7), and Ethan (1). A special recognition goes to Andrew, who did a sterling job in goal, making several crucial saves.
Coach Allan reflected on the team’s performance: “Bradford edged the first half, but the Tigers came back strong to win 5-2. In the second game, the team performed even better, securing a dominant 5-0 victory. However, the best match of the day was the final one, a thrilling 2-1 win against Hillsborough after a very close battle.”
Coach Chris selected Elliott as the Player of the Day: “Elliott took a bit of time to get up to speed, but once he did, there was no holding him back. I’ve honestly never seen this young man get stuck in as much as he did today.”
The day was also a special one for Josh, who made his competitive debut. At the post-match McDonald’s meet-up, he shared his excitement: “I had a fantastic day today. I scored my first goal in my first game, and we won all three matches. That made me feel better and more confident as the games progressed. I believe I can contribute positively to the team and bring a lot of energy to it.”
His parents were equally delighted: “We are so happy to see Joshua playing for his team today. The smile on his face says it all, and that joy is shared by us, his parents.”

A huge congratulations to both the Comets and the Tigers for their incredible performances, their teamwork, and the spirit of inclusivity that defines BIFC – Hull. Here’s to many more memorable moments on and off the pitch!
