On Sunday, 26th January 2025, Barton Inclusive FC proudly fielded four teams in action at the Lincolnshire Ability Counts League.
A huge shoutout to all our players, who represented the club with professionalism and pride, and to our incredible volunteers, who dedicated their Sunday to make it all possible.
Special thanks go to our dedicated supporters, including our treasurer Jojo, who braved the cold to cheer us on every step of the way.
Here’s a full roundup of all the action and match reports from an unforgettable day of inclusive football.
Broncos Show Strength and Spirit in League Fixtures
The Broncos returned to action in their second set of league fixtures this season, delivering a day of resilience and determination at the Lincolnshire Ability Counts League.
Game 1 saw the Broncos take on Boston. Despite some strong attacking plays and a series of excellent saves, the team suffered their first defeat of the league campaign.
Game 2 was a tightly contested match against Grimsby, ending in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Game 3 was the highlight of the day, as the Broncos truly did Barton Inclusive FC proud. Keeping their composure and rising above any agitation from their opponents, they focused on the game and stormed to an impressive 4-0 victory.
A special moment came as Alfie made his competitive debut, while Bailey earned Player of the Day honours for his outstanding performance.
Thank you to our cheerleader mums and incredible volunteers for their unwavering support, making the day one to remember for the players and the club. Go Broncos!
Rovers Shine in Lincolnshire Ability Counts League Action
Another fantastic game day for the Rovers squad at the Lincolnshire FA Ability Counts League! Coach Kris shared the highlights from an exciting day of football, full of effort, teamwork, and some memorable moments.
Game 1: Rovers vs. Bottesford Lions
The Rovers kicked off the day in style with a well-deserved 4-0 victory. Goals came from Jay Tommo (2) and Conner (2)—a fantastic debut performance from Conner! The team showcased some outstanding football, setting the tone for the day.
Game 2: Rovers vs. Grimsby
This was a closely matched contest, with both teams battling hard to find the back of the net. Despite plenty of effort, the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Game 3: Rovers vs. Lincoln
A fixture that always excites the squad, reminiscent of their thrilling games against Barton Pumas last season. This time, a late goal from Lincoln sealed the win, with the match finishing 1-0.
Game 4: Rovers vs. Bottesford Hawks
The Rovers closed the day with a 1-1 draw, thanks to another goal from Conner, capping off an impressive first run-out for the team.
Choosing the Player of the Day was no easy task for coaches Kris, Seb, and Mark, as every player gave their all. Ultimately, the award went to Tyler, who, despite normally being a goalkeeper, stepped up as a rock-solid defender. As Coach Seb put it, “So proud of Tyler for putting everything on the line to ensure the opposition didn’t get a chance.”
A huge well done to all the players and a massive thank you to the brilliant coaching team and supporters who made the day enjoyable for everyone. Rovers, we’re proud of you!
Action packed for Pumas
The Pumas had an action-packed day of football in the Lincolnshire Ability Counts League, proudly led by their captain, Skye, whose leadership both on and off the pitch was exceptional. Coach Andrew couldn’t have been prouder of the team’s performance, determination, and teamwork throughout the day.
Game 1: Pumas vs. Boston
The day started with a thrilling match against Boston, which ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Callum was on fire, scoring both goals for the Pumas and setting the tone for a strong showing.
Game 2: Pumas vs. Grimsby
Next up was a hard-fought battle against Grimsby. Once again, the Pumas displayed grit and teamwork, finishing with another 2-2 draw. Goals came from Matt and Callum, with the entire team working hard to secure the result.
Game 3: Pumas vs. Lincoln
The third and final match saw the Pumas face Lincoln. Despite a valiant effort and a goal from Callum, the team fell to a 3-1 loss. The players showed great determination and played for each other until the final whistle.
Joel earned Player of the Day honors for his immense contributions on the pitch. His exceptional work ethic and consistent effort stood out, making him a key player for the team throughout the day.
Club Ambassador Stu praised the players, noting the hard work of Matt, Joel, Cameron, and Aiden at the back under pressure, while Charley and Callum worked tirelessly up front, with Callum scoring some quality goals. A big congratulations to Skye for her superb leadership as captain, guiding the team through a tough set of fixtures.
Stu also gave a special mention to the coaching team, Rob and Andrew, and to Rachel for capturing the action through pictures. Additionally, a shoutout went to Coach James for his impressive debut with Athletic, showcasing his skills on the pitch.
Manager Rob reflected on the day, sharing his pride in the team’s performance: “We’ve gone up a level and are more than holding our own. Well done to everyone today—your never-give-up attitude was brilliant. Super proud!”
The day was full of effort, smiles, and determination, with the Pumas proving once again why they’re a team to be proud of. Thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who braved the cold to cheer on the players. Well done, Pumas, and congratulations to Joel for a well-deserved Player of the Day award!
Athletic Dominate with Three Wins from Three
Athletic returned to league action in style, securing an incredible three wins from three games in the Lincolnshire Ability Counts League. With standout performances across the squad and renewed focus, the team showcased their quality, determination, and teamwork, putting themselves back in contention with the league leaders.
Game 1: Athletic vs. Boston
Athletic kicked off the day with a commanding 3-0 victory. Andy set the tone with an impressive hat-trick, earning him Player of the Day honors for his stellar performance and leadership.
Game 2: Athletic vs. Lincoln
The second game followed a similar pattern, as Athletic maintained their momentum to claim another solid 3-0 win, highlighting their defensive strength and attacking flair.
Game 3: Athletic vs. Grimsby
The final match of the day was a thrilling 3-1 victory against Grimsby. The interplay between James and Andrew up front was exceptional, with James marking his debut in style by scoring four goals across the day.
After the matches, player Aaron summed up the team’s performance beautifully:
“Today was quality. Every player did their job and did it well. 3 wins from 3 games, no stress, just playing our game and getting the wins. Zak was sick in goal, Matt and Sean were rocks in defence, and James and Andrew were incredible up top. Bacon came on and excelled wherever he played, despite all his stressing! Dead proud of us all. If we keep this attitude, the sky’s the limit. Up the Athletic!”
Manager Sophie also shared her pride in the team’s progress:
“To go from taking just one point in October last year to walking away with nine today, scoring nine goals and conceding only one, is a testament to the players and their commitment. They deserved today and will deserve what comes next. We’re ready to kickstart our league campaign and take on the cup fixtures ahead.”
