This weekend was nothing short of extraordinary for BIFC, as three of our incredible teams competed in the Lincolnshire FA County Disability Plate and County Cup competitions and made club history in the process!
With both Broncos and Rovers reaching the final of the County Disability Plate, it was an all-BIFC showdown at Bottesford Town F.C. that had everyone on the edge of their seats. After a tense and emotional match that went to penalties, Broncos emerged victorious however the day was a celebration for both teams, their spirit, and the whole club.
Coach Seb shared his pride in Rovers’ journey:
“I’m really proud of our lads today. They worked hard and to achieve runners-up in a cup competition is amazing for the club. Rovers gave everything in their two games, and it was an honour to lead them out in Kristian’s absence.”
The final went to penalties, and it was Broncos keeper Antony who stood tall, saving three spot kicks after scoring one himself. For this outstanding display and his semi-final goal, Rovers’ Conner B was named Player of the Day.
“Conner took on board everything I asked and gave it his all,” said Coach Seb. “He scored a magnificent goal in the semi-final to send us through, what a performance!”
Conner’s own words captured the spirit of the day perfectly:
“I enjoyed playing football. We played our best as a team and I’m proud we came second in the cup. Thank you to all the players and coaches, I had a great day!”
Over in the Broncos camp, the excitement was just as high. Coach Chris was full of praise:
“What an amazing day, not just because of the result, but the atmosphere, venue, and the ‘walk out experience’. From the kick-off, we played football the way it should be played, together, with sportsmanship, and heart. The Broncos are true gents, win or lose.”
Broncos keeper and POTM Antony reflected on his incredible role in the final:
“It’s only my second game with the team, but I felt over the moon! The nerves were there, but I stayed focused, scored our first penalty and saved three, an amazing team effort with great goals from the twins. We did it together.”
Parent and spectator Carl gave us a pitch-side breakdown of those vital moments:
“Lincoln put us under pressure in the semi, but the team worked the ball beautifully. Brandon to Bailey for a calm finish made it 3-1, and the final goal? A textbook team move ending in a stunning volley from Brandon — total class!”
And Teresa, mum of player Harry, wrapped up the feeling perfectly:
“A fabulous, wholesome day of football at a beautiful venue. I was on the edge of my seat for the penalties. A brilliant result not just for Broncos but the whole club.”
Let’s not forget our BIFC Athletic squad who secured an impressive 4th place in the Disability County Cup — a fantastic result against strong opposition.
Thank You to Everyone Involved!
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the players, coaches, volunteers, parents, spectators, and organisers who made this weekend so special. Your hard work, commitment, and positivity are what make BIFC such an amazing football family.
Congratulations to our Broncos, Rovers, and Athletic teams on their incredible performances. Whether lifting silverware or just showing up with passion and pride, you all made the club proud.
Here’s to more memorable moments ahead — we do this together.
